Groves for Davies Crane Hire

UK rental company Davies Crane Hire has taken delivery of two Grove All Terrain cranes, a 100 tonne GMK4100L-1 and a 300 tonne GMK6300L.

The four axle GMK4100L-1 features a 60 metre main boom with Twin-Lock pinning and an 11.1 to 17.6 metre telescopic swingaway extension. The six axle GMK6300L features an 80 metre, seven section main boom with Twin-Lock pinning, topped by a 12 to 21 metre hydraulically luffing bi-fold swingaway extension, two eight metre inserts are also available to take the maximum tip height to 120 metres.

The GMK4100L-1 will be based at the company’s main depot in Carmarthen, while the GMK6300L will operate out of its Port Talbot location, although both cranes will cover the entire south Wales region.

Managing director Malcolm Davies said: “So many job sites these days have limited access, so attaching a jib to the boom is a headache. Aside from the extra time and cost to get the jib to the job site, manoeuvering it into position to attach it is becoming a more technical process. So with the long boom lengths on these two new Grove machines a lot of that hassle is eliminated. That’s probably the single biggest benefit of these new additions – their relative simplicity.”
