Groves to Australia

Australian rental company Borger Cranes has taken delivery of three Grove All Terrain cranes, one 100 tonne GMK4100 and two 250 tonne GMK5250Ls, with two 100 tonne GMK4100L-1 cranes also on order.

The four axle GMK4100 features a six section 52 metre boom and a 10 to 17 metre bi-fold swingaway extension, which gives a maximum tip height of 82 metres. The five axle GMK5250L is equipped with a 70 metre main boom and a 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can be extended with additional inserts to 37 metres, for a maximum tip height of 110 metres.

Managing director Shawn Borger said: “With the GMK5250L and GMK4100L-1, we have the versatility to send the machines to a variety of job sites, which translates into very high utilisation. Whether it’s projects in central Sydney or Newcastle, or larger infrastructure jobs out of town, these new Grove cranes are great additions to the fleet because we can configure them to suit the travel and lifting requirements of a particular job site.”

Grove sales director for Australia Neil Hollingshead added: “Infrastructure work is driving the market in NSW after the slowdown in Australia’s mining sector, while other states are showing signs of recovery as rental companies replace older models with these latest, state of the art models. The popularity of this current generation of Grove All Terrain cranes comes from the fact they offer something different. Customers like their innovative design, which allows them to configure the cranes for a wider range of work. Also, their easier transport configuration means they can move more rapidly between jobs, improving return on investment.”
