Fatal crane rigging incident

A man died while rigging a crane for a lift on a radio tower near Fayetteville, Arkansas, last Thursday.

We understand that the crane had been set up and levelled and that the team were preparing to install the swingaway extension when, according to police report, fell from the stowage brackets and landed on Cory Hale, 48,pinning him to the ground.

He was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries. The crane is owned and operated by Hale’s employer Multi-Craft Contractors, which runs a small fleet of truck mounted and Rough Terrain cranes. President Rick Barrows, acknowledge the incident and said: “the company is devastated by the loss of one of a team member.

The Washington County Sheriff is investigating.
