The steel pipe went straight through the cab

From what we have learnt itt seems the operator of a Kobelco crawler crane had picked the pipe up with a vibro hammer attachment when something gave way causing the long pipe to swing into/ drop down on to the crane cab.
The man sustained life threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

The pile struck the cab dead centre

Note: We have decided not to publish one of the photos received showing a close up of the cab, the damage to whcih is even more substantial than the photograph above suggests.
