The new models are said to offer improved boom speeds and responsiveness, achieved by redesigning the hydraulic circuits and optimising the hydraulic cylinder sizes. Increased working work envelopes and improved ground access. At the same the use of high strength steels in the structure has provided increased vehicle payload, something that is always in the demand from the sector.

The Optima TC and HR models also feature almost a metre more reach than the units they replace, a visual indicator light informs the operator when the boom moves into the extended reach area of the working range. An new optional Load Alert system which monitors the truck’s jib and platform capacity is also available.

Marketing director Joe Caywood said: “Performance, productivity, and safety are among the top concerns of electric utility customers. Terex Utilities has responded to customer requests time and again in an effort to provide continuous improvement of our products that are rooted in these three areas of focus.”

“Optima is built on the strong foundation of Hi-Ranger, designed to provide greater reliability, efficiency and simplified operation and maintenance. Product improvements include greater payload capacity, better boom speeds, enhanced side reach and ground access, as well as features that improve maintenance access and reliability on the Optima Hi-Ranger aerials. The lower ground access makes it easier for operators to hand off tools to ground personnel, clean out debris in the bucket and is useful in operator recovery situations.”
