IPS launches mobile consumables store

UK based aerial lift parts specialist IPS is launching a mobile consumables store and has appointed James Aston to its sales team.

The company already runs a fleet of spare parts vans serving the access rental sector, but it is now expanding into workshop tools, Personal Protection Equipment and consumables. The first consumables van will cover the West Midlands, south west England and south Wales.

Operations director Kevin Shadbolt said: “We launched our own consumables range in 2015 and it has gone from strength to strength. Our parts vans help reduce down time and postage costs for hire companies. We see a similar opportunity for our consumables van to keep workshops fully stocked and as productive as possible. If this first van is a success, then we will look at expanding the service across the mainland UK.”

New appointment Aston has plenty of experience in similar roles having worked for BMW and Mercedes. Along with targeting the rental industry, he will also be looking to do business with garages and workshops.

Aston said: “There is a gap in the market for this type of service to the automotive trade. In my experience, a lot of garages rarely see the sales reps for consumables. We can do a better job of building relationships, understanding their needs, and supplying products at very competitive prices.”
