Linesman electrocuted in storm clean up

A linesman working on storm restoration work in Texas died yesterday after touching a live power line while working from an aerial lift.

The man, Lachlan Brain - who only become a linesman last year - was working with a crew near Victoria, 120 miles to the south west of Houston, restoring power lines damaged in Hurricane Harvey. According to the police, he was reaching across while working on a disconnected power line and made contact with a live wire.

Other crew members were quick to bring down the platform and attempted to revive him, but failed. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Brain was employed by T&D Solutions which has launched an investigation in partnership with its parent company PowerTeam Services. A company statement said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Brain family, his friends and his co-workers.”
