Tadano launches GR1100EX RT International

Tadano has launched the international version of its 110 tonne GR-1200XL/GR-1100EX Rough Terrain crane.

The move follows the unveiling of the North American version of what is its largest two axle Rough Terrain crane to date, at Conexpo earlier this year. Dimensionally the new crane is very similar to the 90 tonne GR1000XL, but it offers longer boom and substantially better capacities.

The Tadano GR1100EX - GR1200EX in USA - has a 56 metre main boom

The new crane has a 56 metre main boom, plus a 10.1 to 17.7 metre bi-fold swingaway extension with up to 45 degrees of offset, for a maximum tip height of 76 metres. Maximum working radius on main boom is 44 metres or 47 metres with the extension installed.

The crane also incorporates Tadano’s new ‘Smart Chart System’ that optimises the load chart depending on the actual outrigger and superstructure position, for example offering greater reach, or capacity over the top of an outrigger jack, compared to over the side.

Tadano’s ‘Eco-Mode’ fuel monitoring system with start stop and ‘Positive Control’ fuel monitoring is standard, as is the Tadano Hello-Net telematics system.

Vertikal Comment

The vast majority of Tadano Rough Terrain cranes are sold in North America, Japan and in some years the Middle East. So it always makes sense for the major launch to be held in the USA – as we witnessed with Liebherr’s return to the RT market at Conexpo.

It is good to see though that the International version is ready for market so soon after the initial unveiling.
