Liebherr for Dutch port

Dutch terminal operator Kloosterboer has taken delivery of a 144 tonne Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour crane and an LRS 545 reachstacker.

The LHM 550 has a boom length of 54 metres and is equipped with both the Advanced Container Control software and the Soft Touch Down system. Both features assist the crane operator in unloading containers of sensitive cargo. The crane will be used by Kloosterboers at its cold store terminal in Vlissingen, south west Netherlands, which has become the new European import centre for Chiquita bananas and tropical fruits.

The LRS 545 reachstacker can stack five containers high, and is fitted with a Tier 4F engine, with fuel consumption as low as 12 to 14 litres an hour.

Kloosterboer operations manager Marc Rommers said: “Thanks to our new Liebherr mobile harbour crane in cooperation with the LRS 545 reachstacker, we are very optimistic to meet or even exceed the needs of our customers. We now provide all what it take to efficiently unload store and distribute fruits and other temperature controlled cargo, conventional as well as containerised.”

Founded in 1925, Kloosterboer employs 800 at nine locations in the Netherlands and six others worldwide.
