Fatal tower crane overturn in China

A tower crane collapsed on Saturday at a site in Guangzhou, southern China, killing seven and seriously injuring another two.

The incident occurred on the construction site for the new southern headquarters of state owned China Communications Construction company. The crane apparently began to lean and graduallay gather paace before collapsing completely. The two injured men were later reported to be in a stable condition.

Guangzhou Housing and Urban Rural Construction Committee announced yesterday that it was suspending work on all construction sites in the city, until they have passed a safety inspection allowing work to resume.
