Three Terex cranes for Bothar

Australian company Bothar Boring & Tunneling has purchased three new Demag/Terex All Terrain cranes as it expands operations in the Middle East.

The new cranes include a 500 tonne eight axle Demag AC 500-8, a 100 tonne four axle Demag AC 100-4L and a 160 tonne five axle Terex Explorer 5600. The three will join the company’s current fleet of 15 cranes that are based in the region. All units will include the latest specifications, including automatic asymmetric outrigger positioning and monitoring.

Lifting a Bothar tunnelling machine into a tunnel shaft


Founded in 1991, the company manufactures its own tunnelling machines and employs them on the projects it carries out around the world. It has been working in the Middle East since 2010, and completed a number of high profile projects, mostly involving micro tunnelling, sewer and cable tunnel projects in Kuwait and Abu Dhabi.
It recently won several major contracts for micro-tunnelling jobs in Qatar. the company determined it needed to add additional units to its current fleet of 15 cranes. In the company’s line of work, the compact size and, is vital for working in tight areas.
