More 13 tonne Katos

Two more European crane companies have added the compact 13 tonne Kato CR-130Ri city-type All Terrain crane to their fleets with both Emsley Crane Hire in the UK and Mentner Krane in Germany taking delivery of new units from European master distributor Rivertek.

The CR-130Ri has a 24 metre, six section boom with a two stage, 3.6 to 5.5 metre hydraulic luffing jib. The Emsley unit will replace a 10 tonne Kato CR-100 city-type All Terrain crane.

Managing director John Emsley said: “Down through the years we have purchased over 20 new Kato Cranes and they have always been a very reliable, fantastic crane. This new model is the first of many Katos that we plan to bring back into our fleet. It is a quality crane that is always in demand and we are very happy with the service and attention to detail shown by Rivertek.”

Dietlind Körner (L) and Frank Meiser (R) of Mini & Mobile Cranes Körner, with Mr Mentner (M)

Based in Meissen, East Germany, Mentner Krane operates a substantial fleet of Unic spider cranes and the new Kato will be used in industrial applications and general crane rental duties. The crane was delivered by Rivertek through Mini & Mobile Cranes Körner.

Dietlind Körner of Mini & Mobile Cranes Körner said: “Featuring a fully powered main boom length of 24 metres which can be telescoped under full load is a major advantage to this crane, especially when combined with axle loads of only 8,000kg.”

Rivertek's Tom Quinlan added: “Demand for Kato city cranes has been growing steadily as owners and operators become more familiar with their capabilities. The 13 tonne Kato, boasting a 24 metre main boom, 5.5 metre hydraulically luffing jib and outrigger length sensors is proving very popular. It is a compact versatile crane that offers capabilities not available from other manufacturers.”
