Barin unit to Spain

Italian underbridge inspection platform manufacturer Barin has delivered a new AB 20/SL underbridge inspection unit to Spanish company Drace Infraestructuras, a division of Dragados.

The platform can reach up to 24.5 metres below ground and has up to 20 metres of horizontal underbridge outreach. It can clear bridge barriers of up to 4.6 metres high and reach over pedestrian walkways of up to 4.4 metres wide. Platform capacity is 300kg and it has an above ground working height of 22.5 metres. It is mounted on a 32 tonne Scania Euro 6 chassis that occupies only one lane of traffic while working.

The AB 20/SL in operation


The new platform is being used by Drace to inspect the Constitution of 1812 Bridge, also known as the La Pepa Bridge, located in the Bay of Cadiz, linking Cadiz with Puerto Real in mainland Spain.

The model has an underbridge outreach of 20 metres


The bridge is 69 metres above sea level, and has two 180 metre pylons, one in the sea and the other in Cabezuelas Harbour. It also includes a 540 metre span, plus a 150 metre removal span.
