Fatal crane incident in Korea

A heavy duty luffing jib tower crane has collapsed at a shipyard operated by Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, South Korea yesterday, killing five people and injuring a further 20.

The crane appears to have dropped its jib during a heavy lift

This incident occurred yesterday during construction of an oil platform for Total’s Martin Linge field off Norway. The jib came down into the main area dropping the load into an area where people were still working, We have a couple of grainy photographs but further details are scarce.
