New Demag for Kawelke

German crane rental company Kawelke Kranverleih has taken delivery of a new 130 tonne five axle Demag AC130-5.

The new crane features a six section 60 metre main boom plus 11.4 to 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension for an 80.8 metre tip height. Maximum counterweight is 42.2 metres. The crane is also compact with an overall length of 14.45 metres and an overall width of 2.75 metres and features the Terex IC-1 Plus control system with automatic variable outrigger set up with loadcharts automatically generated for the actual crane footprint and counterweight set up.

The new crane was handed over to Kawelke general manager Jürgen Kawelke, his mother Ellen and sister Regine at the company’s premises in Bobenheim-Roxheim by Michael Ziegler of Terex Cranes.

Jürgen Kawelke said: “The whole concept behind the innovative IC-1 Plus control system is what really sold us on the crane, as it makes it possible to always get the maximum available lifting capacity even when using asymmetrical or small outrigger setups. This crucial advantage is achieved by means of a real-time lifting capacity calculation that also makes it possible to perform lifts in the crane’s upper lifting capacity range with the smallest possible counterweight. Ultimately, this means that we get increased versatility while at the same time reducing transportation costs.”
