Crane causes serious accident

A man was very seriously injured last night when his van collided with an All Terrain crane as it pulled out of a construction site in Gembloux, Belgium.

The van driver was unable to avoid the crane and hit it with full force he was rushed to hospital where he is said to be in a critical condition today.

This case is a prime example of the need to consider traffic control on a site exit onto busy streets, especially this time of year when it is dark early and roads can be icy. Hopefully the injured man will make a full recovery. The crane driver will also have suffered from severe shock and will almost certainly be affected by the incident.
