Crane overturn on highway ramp

A truck mounted crane with trailing boom overturned on a ramp from California Route 56 to Interstate 15 north of San Diego, California yesterday.

According to police the crane was travelling with its boom trailing over the rear when it broke away from its three axle boom trailer and swung over the side of the chassis, causing the crane to flip over with the boom coming to rest on the embankment alongside the ramp.

Thankfully this time no one was hurt or injured, mainly as it appears to have been the only vehicle on the ramp. Hydraulic oil did leak, requiring a clean up operation.

Vertikal Comment

Similar incidents have occurred in Southern California in the past, in which passing motorists have lost their lives. Thankfully that was not the case this time.

I don't think us yanks have a monopoly on wrecking cranes. You lads in the EU and UK seem to hold your own in that department.

It's no wonder that crane manufacturers do so well in America with them wrecking so many cranes.
