Gottwald for Italian port

Italian terminal operator Spinelli has ordered a 150 tonne diesel-electric Terex Gottwald Model 8 G HMK 8610 mobile harbour crane for its terminal in the Port of Genoa.

The new crane features 56 metres of outreach and maximum lift speed of 100 metres a minute. The order also includes two twin-lift spreaders with a lifting capacity of 60 tonnes each. The machine will be the largest crane from Terex Port Solutions in Italy and will handle general and heavy project cargo. This will be the fourth Terex Gottwald mobile harbour crane in the Spinelli fleet.

The new crane from TPS will be the fourth Terex mobile harbour crane in Spinelli's fleet

Managing director Roberto Spinelli said: “We are faced with the challenge of serving a constantly growing fleet of large vessels. The new crane will help us to respond to this challenge in the long term. As our mobile harbour cranes from Terex have always impressed us with their high level of performance and reliability, it was logical for us to opt again for a Gottwald crane.”

Terex Port regional director sales and services Gino Gherri added: “We started to deliver Terex Gottwald cranes to Spinelli in 2013 when we supplied a Model 6 crane to Genoa, which was followed by two Model 7 cranes and now the Model 8 in the G HMK 8610 variant. Since 2014, we have put eight Model 7 cranes into operation throughout the country. The popularity of our large-crane family, which are part of our Generation 5 product portfolio, is a sign that we offer the right answers for our customers’ needs. The Model 8 for Spinelli is the next chapter of this success story.”
