Ruthmann new product launches

Last week, Ruthmann held a major new product launch day at which it unveiled three of four new models See Ruthmann unveils 29m/3.5t truck mount

As we have already reported, the machine that attracted most attention was the 29 metre TB290 on a 3.5 tonne chassis, the height of which the company kept secret until the day. We had anticipated a 28 metre model, but the working height is in fact 28.6 metres, according to the company's preliminary range diagrams, but the company says that the final machine will have a working height of 28.8 metres. The new model, an upgrade of the 27 metre TB 270+, is now the world's highest reaching truck mounted platform on a 3.5 tonne chassis, with the Mercedes Euro 6 chassis likely to be the most popular. However Ruthmann also plans to offer the lift on larger chassis - including, most likely 6.5 and 7.5 tonners - for greater payload and a more consistent working area.

The new unit is lighter, thanks to improvements in the fabrication designs and the use of higher yield fine grain steels. The extra height comes from an increase in the maximum boom elevation of three degrees - taking it close to vertical - along with a little more telescope from each of the four telescoping boom sections, thanks to improvements in the boom design.

The net result is almost two metres more working height. The platform capacity remains at 230kg with an outreach of up to 9.8 metres over the side or almost 13 metres over the rear quadrant. Maximum outreach is 16.2 metres with 100kg over the rear with platform rotated – or almost 13 metres over the side. The machine can set up on slopes of up to five degrees, while overall length is 6.95 metres, with a height of 3.02 metres.

Other new machines making their debut at the event, was the 75 metre T 750 HF, and the 65 metre T 650 HF. both of which the company announced the day before Bauma opened back in April. The four axle T 750 has a five section main boom, topped by a long three section jib/top boom and short articulated end jib. The unit has a maximum platform capacity of 600kg, which it can take to a height of around 70 metres. Capacity at full height is 320kg. Maximum outreach is 41 metres, but this is only available in specific points such as over each of the rear outriggers, with platform fully rotated and a restricted capacity of 100kg and as such will have limited practical use. The machine also has a very impressive 14 metres of below ground reach, thanks to its three section jib.

Platform rotation is a full 440 degrees, allowing the front of the platform to face towards the machine, handy when working over the top, and on the other side of buildings. Extended platform dimensions are 3.82 metres by 970mm. Overall vehicle length is just under 14 metres, depending on the chassis, while total weight is 32 tonnes.

The T 650 has the same boom and jib configuration as the 750, but provides up to 43 metres of outreach - with a 100kg platform capacity, while the 600kg maximum platform capacity is available up to a working height of around 60 metres. The 650 uses the same platform and 440 degree rotation system as the 750, it is though more compact, with an overall length of just under 12 metres.
