Ignorance is bliss?

Spotted by a reader in Langley, near London’s Heathrow airport this week, two men operating a boom lift, in heavy traffic which little attention to coning off, while also working over an open side walk/pavement.

Hopefully the two are at least wearing harness with short lanyards attached and at least they have rented in an aerial work platform – a new Haulotte from UK Platforms – so it’s not all bad. But they do seem to be oblivious to the fact that the counterweight is protruding into the traffic.

Working in traffic in Langley, UK

Willow Parade appears to be a Death Wish black spot, and has appeared on this web site on more occasions than any other location in the world. This is partly due to a diligent local resident of course, but it also means that there are local contractors who ignore his warnings and a local Health & Safety inspector who turns a blind eye?

Definitely another one for our Death Wish series.

At least the two are using a platform, but they do need some awareness training
