APF 2016 Forestry Show

The UK’s biannual International Forestry Exhibition - APF 2016 - took place once again last weekend at Ragley Estate in Alcester, Warwickshire. The Exhibition is the largest event of its type in the UK and the 3rd largest in Europe for the forestry, woodland, arboriculture, wood fuel and utility sectors in the UK. This year there were more than 300 exhibitors and although final figures are not yet available about 18,000 were expected over the three days of the show.

While the APF showcases the very latest machines and technology being used in the industry there is still a large proportion given to traditional woodland crafts and horse logging.

The dangerous nature of the industry was highlighted in a fatal accident on the Wednesday during the set-up of the show involving one of the organising staff. Despite receiving immediate first aid treatment by the on-site St John Ambulance staff and subsequently flown to Birmingham Hospital for further treatment, he died that evening.
Here is a pictorial round-up of the lifting related exhibits.
