First 250t Grove in Asia

Asiagroup Leasing has taken delivery of the first 250 tonne Grove GMK5250L All Terrain crane to arrive in Asia

The new crane is the ninth Grove crane that the heavy lift and haulage company has taken over the past two years. The five axle single engine GMK5250L has a seven section70 metre main boom, and 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension which extends to 37 metres with inserts and offsets by up to 50 degrees. The crane will be used on a variety of oil & gas projects, and for erecting and dismantling tower cranes.

The Asiagroup’s All Terrain fleet is largely made up of Liebherr and Terex crane, topped by a 1,000 tonne AC1000 – but it has been adding Groves in the important mid range, and already owns three six axle, 300 tonne Grove GMK6300L and three four axle 100 tonne GMK4100L,

The arrival of Singapore’s first GMK5250L was commemorated with al handover earlier this month at the Grove/Manitowoc facility in Tuas.
Asiagroup business development manager Jeffrey Poh said: “Having such a long boom is a real advantage for the GMK5250L. The longer boom means it can work on bigger developments, while its smaller footprint makes it versatile enough to fit a wide variety of projects. Having a smaller footprint than other cranes in its class, means better maneuvrability and that makes it optimal for Singapore’s roads.”

Teo Yew Boon Asia Pacific regional sales director for Grove and Manitowoc cranes added: “Asiagroup Leasing is one of the most forward thinking crane rental companies in this region and it’s no surprise to see them taking Asia’s first GMK5250L. The company has been constantly investing in the industry’s most advanced lifting equipment so it can provide better service and better solutions to its customers, and based on this philosophy the GMK5250L is a natural addition for them.”

Asiagroup is one of the largest crane rental companies in South East Asia and in addition to Singapore, operates locations in Malaysia and Myanmar.
