Fire causes crane boom drop

A crawler crane caught fire yesterday in Florida and as a result dropped its lattice boom as the boom hoist and cables suffered in the blaze.

The incident occurred in Boyton Beach to the north of Boca Raton, no one was injured and the boom came down within the site boundaries. The crane operator managed to leave the cab well before the flames took over and the boom dropped.

The crane appears to be a Liebherr, owned by Beyel and was working on the construction of a new care home when the fire broke out in the engine compartment.
