The new ship will be built by Ouhua Shipbuilding in Zhoushan, Eastern China, with delivery expected early 2018. It has a maximum speed of 15 knots, features a large cargo hold, pontoon type hatch covers and will be allowed to sail with open weather deck hatches at a draught of up to 7.5 metres, leaving the vessel’s full deck area available for cargo stowage.

Based in Amsterdam, BigLift Shipping has specialised in international heavy lift transportation since 2013 and runs a fleet of 16 heavy lift vessels, including ‘Happy Sun’, with capacities of up to 1,800 tonnes.

This engineering marvels the mind...how the load weight can be offset in water so the vessel does not tilt toward its load. Thanks for the article and photo.
