Vertikal Days EU Referendum

During Vertikal Days every visitor was given a polling card to vote in or out of the EU. If you missed the Vertikal Days twitter feed which showed the result last week, here it is.

The result of the EU ballot at the event was 58.7 percent to Leave, 30.1 percent to Remain and 11.2 percent Undecided. Just under 600 of the 2,400 or so visitors posted a vote.

Tomorrow is the big day when Britain decides on way or another - if you are a voter and still undecided- or if you have already made up your mind - you might want to take a look at a short video lecture that a reader has sent us by University of Liverpool Law School professor Michael Dougan who has spent his career studying EU law as it relates to the UK. See Professor Michael Dougan analyses the EU referendum debate

He dismisses the lies and exaggerations that both sides in the debate have been guilty of pedalling, cuts through the deplorable ignorance of the debate so far on both sides, and lays out the pros and cos and what would really have to happen if the UK does vote to leave.

The posting of this link was purely that it provides a clear and clinical explanation of the situation as it is now, away from the gross exaggerations, doomsday scenarios, lies and half truths of the campaign so far, not to mention emotional rallying and growing hate and vitriol that it all seems to be stirring up.

It is intended as a service to our readers. If there is anything else out there that also does this we will be more than happy to add it to this item as soon as we receive it.

Why is it that anytime any expert says something the Leave campaign doesnt like they try to trash their integrity? Assuming this chair does get £16,600 a year are you seriously saying that people like this are bribed to give up all their scruples? even in the unliklely case where this was true the simple statement of fact is clear and can be checked.
If you have to resort to conspiracy theories to make your case then you have already lost. and therefore dragging the country into uncertain and nationalist isolationist future is completley irresponsible and if you have children they will not thank you reducing their opportunities after you have benefited from 40 years of peace and progress all in the name of some emotionally stirred idea of the grass being greener

The one thing professor Michael Dougan, of Liverpool University, seems less than keen to reveal is that he is holder of a Jean Monnet chair at the university. It's not that he keeps it a secret – just that he doesn't make a point of declaring it.

However, that means his post is supported by EU funds, typically worth €50,000 over three years. And, while post-holders deny bias, they are in effect paid agents of the EU.
