John Deere withdraws from telehandler market

John Deere is to withdraw from the telehandler market and has announced that its Zweibrücken factory in Germany will discontinue the manufacture of telescopic handlers, as of 31 October 2006.

John Deere is withdrawing from the telehandler market

In a brief statement issued today, it says that the Zweibrücken factory will continue in its role as the company’s European centre for the design, manufacture and support of harvesting equipment, including the new 9000i Series combine harvesters and 7000 Series self-propelled foragers.

The company's decision follows a detailed assessment of worldwide market conditions and the business environment, as well as consideration of potential alternatives. It will not affect permanent employment at the Zweibrücken factory or at other John Deere factories supplying telescopic handler components.

John Deere and its dealers will continue to provide customers with full parts and product support for current and previous telescopic handlers, including both 3000 and 4000 Series models.
