Six Terex RTG’s for Egypt

Egyptian port terminal operator Alexandria Container and Cargo Handling has ordered six Terex diesel-electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes.

Manufactured at the Terex Port Solutions’ facility in Xiamen, China, the 40.6 tonne gantry cranes have a lift height of 18.1 metres, a one over five configuration and can stack up to six containers wide plus a truck lane. The new RTG’s will be delivered to the operator’s Port of Alexandria base, and will join a fleet of 20 Terex RTG’s already in operation.

The new cranes will be shared betweentwo port terminals. Three cranes will operate at the Alexandria Container Terminal while the EIDekheila Container Terminal will take one crane of the same specification and two with a 26.5 metre span that will cover seven container rows and a single truck lane.

Chief executive Alaa Eldin Ma’moun Nada, said: “Terex RTGs have the reputation of being highly productive and offering competitive total cost of ownership. This is why we have now opted for this technology. With the six cranes we will significantly enhance the efficiency of our operations.”
