Second 300 tonner for Regel

German Crane and heavy transport company Albert Regel has taken delivery of its second 300 tonne, six axle Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2.

The new crane bridges the gap in the company’s fleet between the 220 tonne LTM 1220 and two 500 tonne LTM 1500s and was primarily chosen for its long seven section 78 metre main boom. It is also equipped with the VarioBase outrigger set up system, and features Liebherr’s single-engine concept which is supposed to reduce maintenance costs, and overall weight.

The new crane went straight to work in Kassel, Central Germany, where its long boom was required to remove old ventilation units from BASF’s 50 metre high crude oil and natural gas production site. The LTM1300 was also rigged with a 21 metre bi-fold swingaway extension offset at 40 degrees.

Regel managing partners, Carsten Hildebrandt and Alexander Teifke, said: “The new crane has a very long and powerful 78 metre telescopic boom. What is more we are delighted with the Liebherr VarioBase system. Even on sites where the outriggers cannot be fully extended, due to a lack of space, we want to be able to work safely and with the best load chart values possible.”
