21 new cranes for Hewden

UK rental company Hewden has started taking delivery of 21 new Tadano All Terrain cranes, ranging from 70 to 220 tonnes, a total investment of £11.5 million.

The largest cranes in the order are two 220 tonne Tadano ATF220G-5, complete with a 21 metre telescopic luffing jib attachment- the first in the UK. The deal changes the company’s previous limit to cranes under 120 tonnes.

Other cranes in the package include three 130 tonne five axle ATF 130G-5, six 100 tonne four axle ATF100G-4 and 10 units of the 70 tonne ATF70G-4.

Operations director Mark Hierons said: “This is a significant investment for Hewden but the construction sector is continuing to show strong prospects in the UK, especially for large scale infrastructure and commercial projects. We have been involved in the commercial crane hire sector for more than 40 years but this latest venture is a significant development from our traditional fleet. We are going bigger and better, with the new Tadano rig showing how innovative technology can really help to cut costs and improve health and safety. We’re known in the sector for our safety, reliability, quality and security and the new investments will reinforce that reputation going forward to next year and beyond.”
