Dropped boom

A barge mounted crawler crane working on a bridge in the Bronx area of New York city dropped its boom sometime in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 20 metres of lattice boom on the crane owned by Weeks Marine was fine on Wednesday evening when the barge was moored. Its collapse was only discovered in the early hours when police were called out to a shooting close by and noticed the fallen boom.

As far as anyone knows no one was hurt or injured and the cause of the collapse is not known at this time.
