Another Kobelco CKE135G for BPH

UK-based BPH Equipment has taken delivery of a new 135 tonne Kobelco CKE 1350G lattice boom crawler crane, its sixth.

The new crane takes its maximum capacity to 4.5 metres radius, maximum boom length is 76.2 metres, and maximum system length is 98.1 metres with a 53.3 metre luffing jib on top of a 44.8 metre boom. The crane has a fixed jib of 30.5 metres which can be mounted on up to 61 metres of main boom.

The new crane joins a 110 tonne CKE 1100G and 100 tonne CKE 900G both of which were delivered in November. It went straight out on rent to BPH owner Balfour Beatty on the construction of a large ethane tank for Project Zeppelin in North Tees. It is rigged with 61 metres of boom and a 24 metre jib.

BPH's new Kobelco CKE135G

BPH general manager, Philip Chippindale said: “The majority of our lattice boom crawler cranes are Kobelco. We have built up a good working relationship over many years as Kobelco understand the requirements for our cranes, particularly with regards to the additional features we require to improve their safety. They are well-engineered, competitively priced, of good quality with environmentally friendly Stage IIIB/Tier 4i engines”.

“Besides being extremely reliable cranes that are very popular with our customers, the back-up we receive from Kobelco’s European sales manager Mark Evans and his team here in the UK is also excellent. While we handle everyday maintenance and service, Mark and his team are available to carry out any work we can’t do at a moment’s notice.”

“All our CKE 1350s have been extremely busy. For the last 18 months we have had a couple working on the Mersey Gateway toll road bridge project for the Merseylink consortium, with the others working on a variety of interesting projects across the UK.”
