Crane overturns in San Diego

A Rough Terrain crane overturned at a road construction site on Route 15 in San Diego yesterday trapping a construction worker.

The crane, owned by Bob’s Crane Services was loading a long concrete ‘Jersey Barrier/K Rail’ onto a trailer when it overturned onto the trailer trapping the man on the trailer. Colleagues fought hard with crow bars and anything else they could find in a bid to free the man, which they eventually did. He was rushed to hospital with at least one broken leg.

The crane was set up with outriggers down but not out. Another crane was called in and managed to lift the overturned unit back onto its wheels.
