Self-erecting overturn

A self-erecting tower crane overturned yesterday on a house building site in the village of Nussloch, near Heidelberg, Germany.

The crane fortunately came down on a field

The reports we have received indicate that an employee of the building company that owns the crane, had started changing the counterweights for some reason, causing the crane to lose stability. It is possible the crane had just been erected or was in the process of being erected?

The outgrigger's folded in, but probably after it overturned

Thankfully the crane came down into an empty field behind the house, although the tower clipped the fence and a shed in the neighbour’s garden. No one was hurt in the incident and damage appears to be limited to the ageing crane. Which may have finally seen its last lift?
