Terry Marnock to retire

Terry Marnock will retire from Kranlyft at the end of the year after 35 years with the company.

He became a co-owner in 2002 as part of a management buy-out from previous owner Metso, which had acquired the company a few months earlier from Svedala. The MBO included six Kranlyft managers - Marnock, John Hornby, Paul Rosevere, Bo Borjesson and Per-Ragnar Karlstrom - led by Christer Dijnér.

Back then the UK division was called Kato Cranes UK, but the name was changed to Kranlyft in 2005 given that the company’s principal product line had shifted from Kato cranes to Maeda spider and mini cranes. More recently the company added the distribution of Böcker aluminium cranes in 2013, and quickly made the UK the manufacturer's largest export market.

Marnock took over as managing director from Paul Rosevere when he retired in 2006 and has been the only non-Swedish shareholder since Rosevere and Hornby were bought out. Now aged 68 he feels the time is right to hand over to others.

Hi Terry. Just to wish you all the very best for your retirement. It's been an absolute pleasure dealing with you and your team over the years. Always such gentlemen, and you will be sorely missed. Let's hope we can meet up in the future to do battle with our 'bats', and open up the V12's!!

All the very best to you and Kath.

Terry, I had the great pleasure of working for you, John and Paul during the mid eighties. The good old days of Wild Cat scissors and Snorkel booms. You and your service team gave such great support to it's customers, that it made our sales jobs very enjoyable. You have been so instrumental in the success of Kranlyft in the UK, and will be an almost impossible act to follow. Many thanks for everything, and I wish you many future years of good health and happiness. Please give my best wishes to Kath.
Hope to see you soon mate,
Alan.
