Link Belt opens Training and QA Centre

US crane manufacturer Link Belt has opened its new Training and Quality Assurance Centre at the company’s headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky.

A dedication for the new facility was made by Shunsuke Betsukawa chief executive of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Link-Belt’s parent company based in Tokyo, Japan. Following his remarks he cut the ribbon along with other members of Link-Belt and Sumitomo’s executive staff.

The new 2,800 square metre (30,000sqft) $5.5 million training facility will be utilised for both training and quality assurance, and includes three classrooms, laboratories and high bays to accommodate any size Link-Belt crane and brings Link-Belt’s total manufacturing space to over 1,000,000 square feet. Officials broke ground for the building on June 1st, 2015 and the new facility is set to open completely in January, 2016.

Link-Belt will offer multiple courses each week for its distributor service, parts and sales personnel along with courses for its Link-Belt Preferred crane owners. The majority of these will focus on operation and maintenance of Link-Belt products and will include much more hands-on activities. The facility will also have a space for technical training for Link-Belt’s production personnel.

The facility will also be used for the testing of newly designed parts and ultimately new models and will be a cooperative effort between Link-Belt’s design, quality, manufacturing and training groups.
