Tower crane comes knocking

A tower crane counterweight collided with a high rise hotel yesterday in Cleveland, Ohio, during strong winds.

The counterweight struck the building

The crane, working on the new Hilton Hotel is due to be dismantled and looks as though it may have already been climbed down from its final working height. Strong winds caught the jib and swung the counterweight into the glass façade, apparently causing damage to the glass, although it is hard to see that in the photos we have received.

Osha is investigating what went wrong.
