Fatal hook incident

A crane operator has died after he was hit in the head by a hook block on Thursday in St. Jakob im Ahrntal, in the South Tyrol region of Italy.

The man, Reinhard Niederwieser, 49, was distracted while operating the self-erecting tower crane and was caught by the swinging block. He was rushed to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
