Big Manitex for Burt

Burt Crane & Rigging of Albany, New York, has taken delivery of a 50 ton Manitex 50128S boom truck from dealer Empire Crane.

Thomas Scheib of Burt Crane and Chet Zerrillo of Empire Crane work out the specification of the new crane, the largest boom truck in New York State – and equipped the crane with39 metre/128ft main four section full power main boom, plus two section 9.7 to 14.8 metre telescopic jib and custom livery. It is mounted on a Three axle Peterbilt chassis with two suspended axles to create a five axle rig on the road.

Burt Crane & Rigging's new Manitex 50128S


Family owned Burt Crane can trace its origins back five generations to 1870 when the great, great grandfather of the current owners began erecting a variety of derrick cranes at the slate quarries on the Vermont - New York border near Granville, New York.

Today the company runs a fleet of cranes ranging from a 15 ton Broderson pick & carry crane though boom trucks, Rough Terrains, truck cranes and All Terrains up to a 400 tonne Tadano ATF 400G-6.
