Huisman celebrates China milestone

Dutch heavy lift and offshore specialist Huisman has celebrated the delivery of the 100th crane to be manufactured at its production facility in Zhangzhou, China.

The crane, a 1,500 tonne/metre heavy lift mast crane, is one of two identical units to be installed on the heavy load carrier Fairmaster, owned by shipping and offshore transportation and installation contractor Jumbo.

Husiman chief technical officer Joop Roodenburg, said: “The fact that the 100th crane is the fourth heavy lift mast crane constructed for our client Jumbo at Huisman China confirms both the success of our Chinese production facility and our mast vrane design of which the first was constructed by Huisman in 1983. We are grateful for the trust of our long lasting clients who made a firm contribution to the development of our Chinese facility to what it is now.”

Jumbo director commerce & operations, Twan Voogt, added: “We are proud to have the 100th Chinese built Huisman crane on board of our Fairmaster. Our K-class vessels Jumbo Kinetic and Fairmaster set a new standard in heavy lift shipping, both being able to lift up to 3,000 tonne/metre.”

Established in 2007, Huisman China is located in the Fujian province of China. The facility has a 380 metre long quayside and a 2,400 metre/tonne Huisman travelling quayside crane, which makes it suitable for loading and installation of heavy steel constructions onboard large vessels. The company also added a second facility in China in 2010 – see: Huisman opens new facility in China.
