Ramirent wins NCC mill contract

Swedish international contractor NCC has awarded Ramirent an exclusive project supply agreement for equipment and associated services that it will require for the expansion of the Södra Cell Värö pulp mill in Western Sweden.

The deal which is valued at around €10 million will see Ramirent appoint a resident manager for the contract and set up an on-site customer centre, complete with its own training unit. It will also assist with security and safety solutions via its subsidiary Safety Solution Jonsereds. The contract starts this summer and will run through autumn 2016.

The expansion involves an increase in annual pulp production capacity from the current 425,000 tonnes to 700,000 tonnes. When complete the mill will be one of the world’s largest for the production of softwood sulphate pulp. In addition to producing pulp for paper products, the by-product of the process is green energy which powers the mill. NCC is responsible for the ground preparation, facilities construction and building work.
