First Potain MCT 85 in Cambodia

Cambodian construction and design engineering company Daun Penh Construction has taken delivery of the country’s first Potain MCT 85 topless tower crane.

Successor to the MCi 85, the five tonne MCT 85 has a maximum jib length of 52 metres and a maximum under hook height of 44.6 metres. It can lift 1.4 tonnes to a radius of 50 metres and 1.1 tonne at its maximum jib tip. Its first job was working on the construction of a new government building in the country’s capital Phnom Penh. The crane was purchased through local distributor APE Trading and Construction.

Chuon Vichet Seila, Daun Penh Construction director, said: “Because this is a government job we wanted a new crane that we could rely on to manage the material-handling work so Potain was a perfect choice. This is the first Potain crane we have purchased and it has performed very well. And, if we have any issues related to the crane, we know we’ll get great support from APE Trading and Construction. It’s been a good experience using Potain and we’ll definitely consider the brand for any future projects.”
