Mexico's first Liebherr LTM1750-9.1

Mexican crane rental company GMVykon has taken delivery of the first 750 tonne Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 All Terrain crane in the country.

The company collected its new nine axle crane from the Liebherr facility in Monterrey it has been running two used Liebherr cranes in its fleet for some time and decided that its new flagship crane would be its first new Liebherr. It ordered the crane with a complete range of equipment, including Y guy, boom extensions, and a 91 metre luffing jib.

GMVykon’s owner José Cortez said: “The modern design of the crane, the fact that it can be driven with the boom in place, and offers enormous load capacities and great lifting heights make it an ideal crane for us, since we operate on a wide range of sites in Monterrey and throughout Mexico”, says company proprietor. With this in mind, GMVykon bought the LTM 1750-9.1

“Mexico has good prospects with many large infrastructure, industry and energy projects. Modern, safe cranes will help us to complete these projects. We decided on Liebherr since Liebherr supports its customers with a direct presence and reliable after-sales service in Mexico. This made the decision to expand our fleet with a large crane an easy one.”

The crane went straight to work, carrying out installation work at a steel mill, after which it is dues to go to work at a crude oil industry project.

GMVykon has been trading in its current form since 2009 as the successor to Gruas Monterrey which had been in the crane hire business since 1971. The company has a total fleet of over 100 cranes and employs around 300. The fleet includes Rough Terrains, truck cranes and All Terrain cranes. In the recent past the company has invested heavily in AT cranes with load capacities of between 220 and 400 tonnes.

Based in Monterrey, the company also has locations in Mexico City and Saltillo. The company's core business is complete lifting service for industry for maintenance, new-build and expansion projects. The company is also involved in aerial lift rentals and heavy haulage.
