Manitowoc Australia restructures

Manitowoc Cranes Australia has appointed a new general manager, completed its move to a new facility in Brisbane, expanded its Sydney facilities and appointed a new product support agent in Victoria.

John Stewart has relocated from Singapore to take over as vice president/general manager of Manitowoc Australia. His appointment follows the departure earlier this year of the previous general manager Kelvin Kent, who recently joined Manheim. Kent reported to Stewart in his role as regional senior vice president.

The company has also completed the relocation of its Brisbane operations to a location close to the airport and the Gateway Bridge. The new facility has a larger workshop and yard and is intended to improve service to customers in Queensland.

Manitowoc Cranes new facility in Brisbane


It has also invested in its New South Wales operation in Blacktown, increasing its parts warehouse, to provide space for up to four times the parts of the old facility. The company says that with the latest changes it now has $7 million in spare parts in the country, split between Manitowoc’s own operations and those of its dealers.

At the same time it has confirmed the appointment of Jatco Engineering in Wendouree, Ballarat, to provide product support coverage in Victoria. The company has seven trained service technicians, with mobile workshop vans, at the location and will hold an inventory of a of crane parts. The site can offer ‘Green’ sticker inspections and is fully equipped to diagnose, repair, sandblast and paint products.
