Access Link invests in training

The UK based Access Link has introduced a sales training programme for its member’s hire controllers/dispatchers.

The programme, dubbed Straight to the Core, has been developed by Andrew Fishburn of Sprit Network, in conjunction with Access Link members Gordon Leicester of Facelift and Malcolm Bowers of Lifterz. The one day interactive course provides a systematic approach for front line staff to provide them with the tools and knowledge to provide customers with the best service, while getting the most out every client contact.

Access Link chairman Keith John said: “The Access Link has always been keen to improve standards within the industry. We recognised that our most important assets are our people, and along with the equipment they form our greatest investment. Getting good people is hard, so retaining them, motivating them and training them is vital, if we are to expand our businesses collectively. Customer service is the most critical part of our success, so members have now allocated resources to invest in training and developing our front line staff.”

“We have devised the bespoke training course for hire controllers to address the needs of today’s highly competitive and changing market place. It is part of our continuing strategy to improve services to our client base and invest in our people, Andrew was a natural choice due to his experience and ability to teach much needed skill sets. The programme has commenced and we have already had very good feedback from the candidates and their line managers.”

Access link is an association of independently owned regional rental companies with a combined fleet of around 11,000 platforms across the country.

Spirit Network has developed a range of sales training courses for rental companies, which it has already conducted for several large UK companies. It has also sold training packages for those companies which prefer to present their own courses. Fishburn is also a co-owner of equipment distributor HLS.
