Tower crane overturns in Mannheim

A large self-erecting tower crane overturned onto a building in Mannheim, Germany last Thursday, narrowly missing a children’s day care centre.

The police suspect that the crane was overloaded when it tipped, fortunately no one was hurt in the incident, including the operator who was standing well clear using his remote controller. The crane landed mostly on a building being demolished, but also caused some damage to a new building being built alongside.
