Would you Adam and Eve it?

A reader has sent in a picture, spotted on the Guardian website, of a two men working from an improvised platform placed between two scissor lifts.

Spotted in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, two men are sat between two scissor lifts on what looks like a series of metal poles which have been lashed together. While the one on the left appears to be wearing a harness attached to the scissor lift, the man on the right is relying on a rope, presumably attached to something on the roof.

In the words of our correspondent: “Just been onto the Guardian website reading an article. When I looked in depth at the picture attached to the article, I realised the workers were in two scissor lifts with a ‘Heath Robinson’ platform in between, so all sorts of IPAF and PASMA issues!"

Working eight metres up from an improvised platform placed between two scissor lifts

A closer look at the building reveals that the men would have been working at a height of eight metres and over a glass canopy above the store entrance – hence the two scissor lifts either side... Why they didn’t use a boom/spider lift or a truck mounted platform is any ones guess – needless to say it the job would have carried out safely and in a faction of the time with three less people!
