Large Hiab order for Travis Perkins

UK based builders merchants Travis Perkins has ordered a large number of new Hiab loader cranes, with capacities ranging from four to 14 metre/tonnes.

The order includes the 044-2 Hi Duo, 077-2 Hi Duo, 099-2 Hi Duo, 122-2 Hi Duo and 144-2 Hi Duo models, all of which will be equipped with Hiab’s latest telematics technology, delivering real-time information, including data on uptime and operational cycles the number of lifts carried out, together with maintenance and diagnostic indicators.

Additional safety features include the company’s VSL variable outrigger positioning system, with a readout of the pressure on each leg, its new Power Line Logic system which is said to help prevent contact with power lines and its operator protection system, which creates a virtual cage around the operator and controls to prevent the boom from coming into contact with the operator.

Graham Bellman, Travis Perkins director of fleet service, said: “The Hiab product is one of the most innovative and advanced on the market today. Its safety systems are industry-leading, and an ideal fit for our business because of the nature of our deliveries to both domestic and industrial premises. Hiab invited us to brief them on our views about the building materials industry, and explain our requirements. We need a minimum eight-year life on the cranes, together with the all-important service and back-up support, and it was refreshing to know that a manufacturer wanted to work with us to develop products to meet our specific needs."
