CTE ships first new Zed models

Smart Platform Rental, the UK’s largest provider of 3.5 tonne truck mounted lifts for self-drive rental, has taken delivery of the first production unit of CTE’s new 23 metre Z23.2JH truck mounted work platform.

While the Z23.2JH has a very similar specification to the original Z23JH, the machine has been totally redesigned to meet the latest EN2380:2013 standards while the extensive use of ultra high yield SSAB Docol steel has lowered the overall weight of the machine in order to compensate for the heavier chassis now coming on stream.

Maximum unrestricted platform capacity is 230kg with a working outreach of almost 10 metres., while a new platform rotator provides a full 180 degrees of platform rotation. A tamper-proof proximity switch on the boom rest ensures that the machine is properly stowed before it can move off. New upper and lower controls include a dead man pedal in the platform, which has been redesigned with a dual top rail for finger protection.

The extended outrigger footprint remains under three metres, allowing it to set up within a single lane, and the overall height is under three metres. The unit features a dual sigma type riser, two section telescopic boom and long articulated jib.

The new CTE Z23.2JH

Smart’s managing director Andy Burt, said: “We have worked with CTE since we started in 2002. Their equipment makes up over 60 percent of our fleet. We like the forward thinking nature of CTE and the continual evolution of their products in both performance and reliability. The new Z23JH slots right into our equipment line-up, offering a greater knuckle height and practical fly jib solution on a true sub 3.5 tonne vehicle mounted package.”

“This year we are purchasing 20 new truck mounts, including five CTE Z23JHs and five CTE Z21JH for growth, with the remainder forming part of the company’s stringent fleet replacement programme.”

CTE chief executive Lorenzo Cipriani, added: "We are very pleased that Smart has decided to add our new 23 and 21 metre sigma boom lifts to its fleet. Smart is an expert in self-drive platform rental and its choice shows that we have succeeded to make the new products fit the needs of this highly specialised segment of the rental business, requiring user-friendly and reliable machines."
