Another Ainscough business

Ainscough Industrial Group, owner of AIG Vanguard, Seward Wyon and Lifting Gear UK has launched an electrical contracting company - AIG Electrical.

The business, which is run by Matthew Ainscough, has more than doubled its revenues over the past couple of year to £28 million and expects to reach £40 million this year.

AIG Electrical will offer industrial electrical contracting services including factory fit-outs, switchgear and control panel manufacture and installation, production-line installation and upgrades, as well as any testing and maintenance services.

The new operation will be based at a 250 square metre facility in Bridgend, South Wales, which will also provide a base for mobile teams of engineers. A second location in the North East is also planned. Operations director Alun Lane, who has 30 years’ experience as an electrical engineer, has been with AIG for more than 10 years.

The company now comprises six businesses - AIG Projects, AIG Vanguard, AIG Engineering Services, AIG Offshore Renewables, AIG Electrical and AIG Seward Wyon.

Matt Ainscough

Ainscough said: “A dedicated electrical business was a missing piece in the jigsaw for AIG when it comes to industrial re-locations, upgrades and fit-outs. The launch of AIG Electrical means we now offer a truly end-to-end turnkey service. Up to this point, we have often needed to use external contractors to meet the more complex electrical requirements of projects, but the new business will allow us to carry out every aspect of a job in-house.”

Matthew Ainscough is Martin Ainscough’s eldest son and initially took over the Vanguard business when it was demerged from Ainscough Crane Hire in 2009 - see: Martin Ainscough bows out of Vanguard. Since then he has gone on to build Ainscough Industrial, initially with the financial support of the three Ainscough crane bothers investment group, although the business is now well established in its own right.

Well done on another successful company from the Ainscough family, what ever the Ainscough family touch turns to gold, shame they don't buy back the crane hire company.
