Egyptian road hazard

Spotted by a reader in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, an aerial lift painting street light poles, which caused the bus he was travelling to move out of the way in order to avoid a collision. The man was oblivious to any risks, with no effort to warn on coming traffic on what is a fast wide two lane highway.

Spot the hazard

The following day our correspondent passed the same spot, only to be confronted with a longer truck mounted lift with its articulated knuckle protruding across both lanes - and again without any traffic warnings. Oddly the man in the platform might just be wearing some sort of harness if you look closely. No outrigger mats in use though, but at least the outriggers are properly set.

Zero effort has been made to warn passing vehicles, fortunately traffic was light and visibility good

Fortunately the traffic was light and the visibility good, although it is unlikely that these guys would have acted differently if the approaching cars were being blinded by low sun. So definitely one for our Death Wish series.
